Formula & How Vedic Mental Math & Chisanbop Finger Abacus Calculator Works
Vedic maths offers shortcuts that make some calculations fast to do in your head. To square a number ending in 5, multiply the tens digit by the next number up and put 25 on the end: 35² = (3 × 4) then 25 = 1,225. To multiply numbers close to 100, use the Nikhilam method: for 97 × 96, the shortfalls from 100 are 3 and 4, so subtract one shortfall from the other number (97 − 4 = 93) and multiply the shortfalls (3 × 4 = 12), giving 9,312. The shortcuts do not replace a calculator for everyday work, but they build number sense, help you estimate quickly and make it easy to check an answer.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How do you quickly square any number ending in 5?
Multiply the leading digit(s) by the next integer, then append 25. For example, 75²: 7 × 8 = 56, append 25 → 5625.
How does the two-hand finger abacus count to 99?
The right hand counts units 0–9 (4 fingers = 1 each, thumb = 5). The left hand counts tens 0–90 (4 fingers = 10 each, thumb = 50). Together they display any number from 0 to 99 instantly.
