Formula & How Paycheck & Salary Take-Home Pay Calculator Works
Take-home pay is your gross salary minus income tax, the Medicare levy and any compulsory HELP repayment. The calculator applies Australian resident marginal tax rates to your taxable income, adds the 2% Medicare levy, and then divides the annual net amount into yearly, monthly, fortnightly and weekly pay. If your quoted salary includes superannuation, tick the super-inclusive option so the employer super contribution is removed before tax is worked out. Tax rates and thresholds change from 1 July each year, so the figures reflect the 2026 to 2027 financial year. Deductions, offsets, salary sacrificing and other income will change your actual result.
