Why Not Every 4th Year is a Leap Year
A solar year is approximately 365.2422 days. If we added a leap day every 4 years without exception, the calendar would drift by 3 days every 400 years. How do you calculate the exact number of days between two dates?
Convert both dates to UTC timestamps, calculate the absolute difference in milliseconds, and divide by 86,400,000 (milliseconds per day). If you wish to count both the start day and end day in full, add 1.
What is the difference between calendar days and business days?
Calendar days count every consecutive day on the calendar (including weekends and holidays). Business days (working days) only count Monday through Friday, skipping weekends and recognized public holidays.
How does leap year affect date calculation equations?
A leap year contains 366 days instead of 365, adding February 29. Any date range spanning February 29 of a leap year will register an extra day in the total count compared to a non-leap year.
