Formula & How Daily Water Intake Calculator Works
A common baseline for daily water needs is about 35 mL per kilogram of body weight, which is 2.6 L for a 75 kg person. Add extra for exercise, and for hot or dry conditions, to replace sweat. Part of your fluid comes from food and other drinks, and thirst, urine colour and activity level are practical guides. Needs rise with heat, altitude, illness, pregnancy and breastfeeding, and some medical conditions require limiting fluid, so follow medical advice if that applies to you. Drinking far more than you need does not give extra benefit and can be harmful in extreme amounts. Treat the figure as a general guide.
- Enter Body Weight (kg): Input your target parameter value.
- Enter Daily Exercise (Minutes): Input your target parameter value.
- Enter Environment / Climate: Input your target parameter value.
- Apply Formula: Calculate using
Water (L) = [Weight (kg) × 35 mL + Exercise Top-up + Climate Factor] / 1000. - Review Results: View exact computed answers, metrics, and worked mathematical proofs.
