Formula & How Macronutrient Ratio Calculator Works
Macronutrient targets turn a calorie goal into grams of protein, carbohydrate and fat. Protein and carbohydrate each provide about 4 kcal per gram and fat provides about 9 kcal per gram. For a 2,000 kcal day with a 30% protein, 40% carbohydrate and 30% fat split, protein is 600 ÷ 4 = 150 g, carbohydrate is 800 ÷ 4 = 200 g and fat is 600 ÷ 9 = about 67 g. Choose a split that suits your goal, training and preferences, and keep protein and fibre adequate. These figures are a starting point only, so people with a medical condition or special dietary needs should talk to a dietitian or doctor.
- Enter Target Daily Calories (kcal): Input your target parameter value.
- Enter Dietary Ratio Goal: Input your target parameter value.
- Apply Formula: Calculate using
Protein = (Kcal × P%) / 4 | Carbs = (Kcal × C%) / 4 | Fat = (Kcal × F%) / 9. - Review Results: View exact computed answers, metrics, and worked mathematical proofs.
