Airspeed & Performance

TAS / CAS / EAS Airspeed Calculator

For aviation students and flight schools. Instantly convert and correct your airspeed indicators. Understand the difference between instrument readings and actual speed through the air.

Airspeed Input

Atmospheric Conditions

Performance Speeds

True Airspeed (TAS)
Speed relative to the air column
134.9 kts
Equivalent Airspeed (EAS)
CAS corrected for compressibility
119.9 kts
Density Altitude
Pressure altitude corrected for OAT
6,200 ft
Why Speeds Matter: At high pressure altitudes, the air is thinner (lower density, higher density altitude). This makes the aircraft's Pitot tube read a lower Indicated/Calibrated Airspeed (CAS) even though the actual True Airspeed (TAS) is much higher. Correct calculations are essential for navigation, keeping your flight planned track, and avoiding aircraft performance issues.
